Nursery -> Done / Babies -> Clothed!

Well, it’s mostly done. The only thing I have to do is put up a ceiling fan that we have for in there. Other than that, it’s done! We’ve assembled both cribs and I’ve put together one of the two dressers. It seems that they forgot to put the knobs for the dresser in the box (or we lost them) so we’ll replace the hardware on the dresser with something cool.

We still need to order the matching changing table and we’re going to try to squeeze a rocking chair into the room too. We may have to arrange the furniture a little differently, we’ll see once everything is in there. Also to come, matching curtains, some shelves, etc.

We’ve gotten a bunch of baby clothes already from various friends and family members. Grandmom Nancy got the kids a TON of baby stuff. We saw them this past weekend and ended up going home with an entire trunk full of goodies (thanks!) James and Stacey also let us borrow a ton of baby gear. Bill and Shannon also sent us home with some loaner maternity clothes for Jen and more clothes for the babies. At the rate we’re going these kids won’t need any clothes for the first year or two (wahoo!)

So far everybody has been so great and generous. It’s so exciting to see how excited everybody else is for us too. We’re very lucky to have such nice friends and a caring family. Our babies will be lucky to be around such good people.

Here’s the 21 week belly shot. Still doing good and growing every week!

21 weeks belly

I’ve been busy working on the nursery for the past 6 days straight. All of the painting and trim work is done finally! Last night we put together the two cribs. I may work on putting together the two dressers tonight. It looks really nice with the room done and the furniture in there. We’re realizing how tight things will be when while we have both cribs in the same room.

They’ll be in the same room for a while I guess. I’m not sure at what point we’ll split them into different rooms. I don’t know if you do it at a certain age, or if they start to keep each other awake, etc. I don’t really know much about this stuff at all I guess, I guess you just have to play it by ear.

I’ll get some pictures of the finished nursery up this weekend. Check back soon!

What a great week!

20 weeks full

It has been such a great week! Jen is doing great and her belly is getting bigger and bigger. As you can see she’s 20 weeks now and hiding what looks like 2 small basketballs in her belly. I know every week I post and say how much bigger she looks this week, but she really does seem to have gotten a lot bigger since last week when we took the 19 week picture.

Tuesday we had our mid-point sonogram appointment. This particular sonogram was where they book you a 2 hour time slot and look at every single inch of the babies. It was so neat to see how big they were and how much they’ve grown since last month’s sonogram. We’re happy to report that everything seems to be normal and that our little boy and girl are both where they’re supposed to be. He’s a little bigger than she is at this point. Maybe they were designed so that he’s going to be a little bigger so she can protect her. The coolest part of the entire sonogram for me was when she showed us their facial profile from the side. It was so neat to see their faces (nose, lips, etc). We got a good shot of his profile, and not a really good one of hers. I’ll scan all the printouts that we brought home as soon as Jen brings them home from school.

Later that night I was finally able to feel them kicking by touching Jen’s belly. I’ve been so excited to feel them and can’t explain how it made me feel when I finally did. It was so amazing! Seeing them for such a long time on Tuesday and feeling them kicking Tuesday night just made my love for them grow so much more. I can’t wait to meet them, see what they look like and hold them.

This process has really made me realize how awesome this process is and how amazing creating another being is. I truly do feel that what they say may be true; the best things in life are free. Sure, we’ve had to pay money for doctor co-pays, etc., but, you can be rich or poor and still receive the most amazing gift ever. All without having to charge it, pay cash, or put it on lay-away. Maybe I’m probably getting ahead of myself here. I’ve yet to change a diaper, buy diapers, etc. for a month. But right here and now, I truly feel like the luckiest man alive. Hopefully 6 months from now I’ll still be singing the same tune ;)

The last piece of good news is that we’ve finally gotten all of our furniture returned to Target.com and should have the last of our refund back this week. We have also ordered all new furniture from JCPenny this week, which should be ready for pickup by the end of the week. I’m also going to start painting the nursery tonight. Keep checking the photo albums on Flickr (see links on the right) to see how things progress.

19 weeks

Technically 40 weeks is a full term for a singleton. I don’t think they usually let twins go that far. So, with that said, we’re at least halfway done. Jen’s feeling tons of movement now. She thinks that soon it should be strong enough where I will be able to feel it from the outside. I can’t wait until I can!

Here’s this week’s picture from 19 weeks:

We can definitely notice a difference from last week!
