It has been such a great week! Jen is doing great and her belly is getting bigger and bigger. As you can see she’s 20 weeks now and hiding what looks like 2 small basketballs in her belly. I know every week I post and say how much bigger she looks this week, but she really does seem to have gotten a lot bigger since last week when we took the 19 week picture.
Tuesday we had our mid-point sonogram appointment. This particular sonogram was where they book you a 2 hour time slot and look at every single inch of the babies. It was so neat to see how big they were and how much they’ve grown since last month’s sonogram. We’re happy to report that everything seems to be normal and that our little boy and girl are both where they’re supposed to be. He’s a little bigger than she is at this point. Maybe they were designed so that he’s going to be a little bigger so she can protect her. The coolest part of the entire sonogram for me was when she showed us their facial profile from the side. It was so neat to see their faces (nose, lips, etc). We got a good shot of his profile, and not a really good one of hers. I’ll scan all the printouts that we brought home as soon as Jen brings them home from school.
Later that night I was finally able to feel them kicking by touching Jen’s belly. I’ve been so excited to feel them and can’t explain how it made me feel when I finally did. It was so amazing! Seeing them for such a long time on Tuesday and feeling them kicking Tuesday night just made my love for them grow so much more. I can’t wait to meet them, see what they look like and hold them.
This process has really made me realize how awesome this process is and how amazing creating another being is. I truly do feel that what they say may be true; the best things in life are free. Sure, we’ve had to pay money for doctor co-pays, etc., but, you can be rich or poor and still receive the most amazing gift ever. All without having to charge it, pay cash, or put it on lay-away. Maybe I’m probably getting ahead of myself here. I’ve yet to change a diaper, buy diapers, etc. for a month. But right here and now, I truly feel like the luckiest man alive. Hopefully 6 months from now I’ll still be singing the same tune
The last piece of good news is that we’ve finally gotten all of our furniture returned to Target.com and should have the last of our refund back this week. We have also ordered all new furniture from JCPenny this week, which should be ready for pickup by the end of the week. I’m also going to start painting the nursery tonight. Keep checking the photo albums on Flickr (see links on the right) to see how things progress.

Congrats on the new belly- you’ve definitely popped!! Looks great! Don, it’s so good to hear you so excited about the babies. Don’t get me wrong, Jeff is a great and loving dad and he adores the kiddo, but during the pregnancy he had more of an attitude of impending doom (not a big fan of the kicking or belly stuff, let’s just say that he never reached out for my belly on his own). It just makes me really happy to see Don so excited before the babies arrive. This little boy and girl are lucky to have you guys! (Oh, if Jeff sees this he’s gonna be poopy).
