T-minus 30

Wow, here we are with 29 days left until Baby 3.0′s due date.  It’s hard to believe he’ll be here in a month!  I can’t lie that I’m definitely getting more nervous as the time gets closer.  I think at this point it’s more an issue of dealing with the possibility of Jen going into labor early in the middle of the night or something.  Before Alex and Avery it really wasn’t a problem because we can just jump in the car and go.  Now with these guys to worry about I’m in a panic of what we’d have to do with them.

We’re also realizing now that we should probably get a back packed in case the time does come early.  I think we’ve both just had it in our minds that he’ll come on time and everything will go exactly as planned.  We were even talking the other night about possibly going to visit my dad before 3.0 comes and quickly realized we probably shouldn’t put ourselves in a situation where we’re 3 1/2 hours away from home.

What I’m NOT nervous about is having a new baby.  Before Alex and Avery I had zero experience with tiny babies, changing diapers, etc.  At least now I’ve got that level of confidence where I don’t have to constantly ask myself if I’m holding the baby the right way, if that noise he made is normal, etc.

But please don’t get me wrong, I’m still a paranoid person (parent) in general.  For example, Avery recently had a small scab on her head that neither Jen or I knew how it got there.  It just seemed to show up one day out of the blue.  At first we weren’t sure if it was a scab, a mole or what.  So we kept watching it and it didn’t seem to be going away.  So I started to think man, it’s probably a mole.  Then I thought, wow, if it’s a mole we should get it checked out in case it’s like cancerous or something more serious.

It turned out to just be a scab that Jen was able to pop off with her fingernail.  But, it just goes to show the process I went through in my head of “no big deal” to “we should get it looked at”.  I’m sure that will happen less and less as I continue to get more years of parenthood under my belt.  I’m sure once the big bangs/bruises (i.e. skinned knees, etc) come I’ll definitely brush such things off much easier.

    Don,
From the looks of your kids life stories online, I think you guys are fantastic parents! Just the fact that you worry about being a good parent makes you
all the more special. I know of so many “loser” dads who really don’t care about the things you worry about. You and Jen have been blessed with those beautiful children and you will see that another child will bring even more joy into your lives. A lot of parents wonder if they can love another baby as much as the first one…you guys know the answer to that! You already have two. Baby #3 will just add to the love and you will see that you will have plenty of love to go around for everyone. Once he gets here the twins are going to look so big. Don’t worry too much, kids love to help and can be a great help to you once the baby gets here.
I love checking out your little family online every chance I get and I can’t wait to see the new baby! You guys are doing a terrific job of keeping up the family photos. The kids will never have to wonder what they looked like or what kinds of things they did as a child. I think this is a fantastic way to show how much you love your children. It shows them you love them so much that you wanted to document almost everything they do. At this time in your life you are probably so busy raising your kids, working, keeping up the house etc. trust me, these years are so busy for you that it can sometimes it can be a big blur. But, one day you will sit down and look at these pictures and be so glad you took the time to take them. Kids grow up so fast.
Jen, you look really good! Are you sure there is only one baby in there?
You look really big! Be on the look out for a package in the mail. I’m going to try to get it out the door before I leave for the Ocean this weekend.
My mother in law who lives in OC was visiting for the holidays. She fell on Dec 26 and broke her shoulder and wrist. She has been up here in Frederick recouperating at her friends house while we work and staying with us on the weekends (my mother too) I feel like I’m running a weekend Rehab/ Bed & Breakfast! Anyway, she is not able to drive yet but wants to go home. She may or may not stay but she wants to go home at least for the weekend.
I have one more thing to pick up for the package so if I find what I’m looking for, I’ll send off the package today or tomorrow.
Take care you guys, you are both doing a wonderful job.
P.S. You really need to get more toys for those kids! hahahahahahahahaha
