In the week since she turned two, this sweet little angel of mine has:
1. Begun throwing tantrums that involve throwing herself dramatically into walls or onto floors at a rate of about 5 per day
2. In said tantrums, SHRIEKED over and over at the top of her lungs and is now almost totally hoarse.
3. Begun refusing to let me comb her curly hair and pull it back out of her face (I always used to get compliments on how patient she was about getting her hair done.)
And for the best, here’s our conversation this morning -
Me: Come here so I can comb your hair please
A: No, I don’t like (mumble)
Me: You don’t like it when I comb your hair?
A: No, I don’t like YOU, Mommy. (with just that phrasing and emphasis)
Me: That’s not a nice thing to say. It hurts Mommy’s feelings.
A: I want to go with Daddy.
I had to walk away…
Why did I want her to learn to talk???
